Frequently asked questions

Which setting makes the file smallest?

"Smallest file" combined with a lower resolution such as 720p or 480p gives the biggest reduction. "High quality" keeps more detail but saves less space.

How long does it take?

Encoding speed depends on length and resolution. A few minutes of 1080p video typically takes about as long as the video itself, sometimes less.

Is location data removed?

With "Remove metadata" turned on (default), metadata such as GPS location and device information is not copied into the result.

Why are videos limited to 10 minutes?

Video encoding needs a lot of computing power. Limits keep the free service fast and fair for everyone.
